Learn first. Shop second. A calm, whole-food, species-aware education page that gently guides visitors into the central Ranch Store™ ecosystem.

Our Foundation
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe that nutrition is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve quality of life for the animals we love.
Our goal is not simply to sell food.
Our mission is to help families understand food.
When people understand ingredients, digestion, enrichment, observation, prevention, and lifelong stewardship, they are better prepared to make thoughtful decisions for the individual animal in front of them.
Every dog is different.
Every family is different.
There is no single feeding philosophy that is right for every situation.
Instead, we encourage lifelong learning, careful observation, open communication with qualified veterinary professionals, and a willingness to continually grow as better stewards.

The Loved Dog™ Frozen Raw Collection
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe food is one of the greatest gifts we can give the animals who trust us with their lives.
For thousands of years, dogs and cats survived by eating real food—not artificial colors, unnecessary fillers, or heavily processed ingredients. While modern pet foods have become more convenient, convenience doesn’t always mean nutrition.
That’s why we created The Loved Dog™ Frozen Raw Collection™.
Our goal is simple: feed real food made from real ingredients.
Every recipe begins with high-quality meat and thoughtfully selected ingredients chosen to help support healthy muscles, healthy skin and coat, digestive health, immune function, and overall well-being.
We believe nutrition should nourish the whole animal—not simply meet the minimum nutritional requirements.
Every bowl should contain high-quality animal proteins, whole-food ingredients whenever possible, naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, and functional ingredients that support long-term health.
Every dog and cat is unique. Age, activity level, genetics, medical history, environment, and lifestyle all influence nutritional needs. Our goal is to educate families so they can make informed decisions alongside their veterinarian and other qualified animal health professionals.
The Loved Dog™ Frozen Raw Collection™ is more than a line of food.
It is part of Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™’s mission to help families better understand nutrition, behavior, enrichment, preventive care, and whole-animal wellness.
When you choose products from The Loved Dog™, you also help support educational programs, scholarships, research initiatives, nonprofit outreach, and projects designed to improve the lives of animals and the people who love them.
Because every meal is another opportunity to love a little better.
Fresh, Frozen Raw Nutrition
Every family wants the same thing—to give their dog or cat the best life possible.
For many people, that journey starts with nutrition.
Fresh, frozen raw food is becoming increasingly popular because it focuses on real, minimally processed ingredients that more closely resemble the foods dogs and cats evolved eating over thousands of years.
Freezing helps preserve the quality of ingredients while reducing the need for many artificial preservatives. It allows recipes to remain closer to their natural state and helps maintain taste and texture.
Whole foods naturally contain thousands of nutrients and beneficial compounds that often work together in ways scientists are still discovering. Instead of relying solely on synthetic ingredients, whole-food nutrition provides proteins, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, and naturally occurring phytonutrients in a form many owners prefer.
No single diet is perfect for every animal. Age, breed, genetics, activity level, environment, allergies, medical conditions, and individual metabolism all play a role in determining the best nutritional plan. We encourage families to work with their veterinarian while learning as much as possible about nutrition.
Our Commitment
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe education is just as important as the food itself.
Our mission isn’t simply to sell pet food.
Our mission is to help families understand nutrition, ask better questions, and make informed choices that support healthier, happier lives for the animals they love.
Because healthy animals don’t happen by accident—they happen through knowledge, thoughtful care, and thousands of small choices made with love.
Our Mission
Many companies sell pet food.
Our goal is much bigger.
We’re working to create a community where education, nutrition, animal welfare, research, and responsible pet ownership all work together to improve the lives of animals.
When you support Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, you’re supporting a mission—not just purchasing a meal.
Our educational programs are designed to help families learn about:
As our educational library grows, you’ll continue to find articles, videos, recipes, feeding guides, seasonal tips, and practical resources to help you make informed decisions for your animals.
Supporting Something Bigger
Purchases from Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™ help support the broader mission of our partner organizations, including educational initiatives, community outreach, nonprofit projects, scholarships, research, and programs that improve the lives of animals and the people who care for them.
Thank you for being part of a community that believes every meal, every lesson, and every act of kindness can make a difference.
Together, we can help build healthier animals, stronger families, and a more compassionate world—one bowl at a time.
A Way of Caring
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe feeding an animal is about more than filling a bowl.
It’s about becoming a thoughtful steward of another living being.
Food Stewardship™ means making informed choices that consider not only nutrition, but also quality, sourcing, sustainability, education, and the long-term health of our animals.
Each time we prepare a meal, we make decisions that can influence our animals’ health for years to come. Questions worth asking include:
There isn’t always one perfect answer. The goal is to continue learning and making the best decisions we can with the information available.
Nutrition science continues to evolve. New research helps us better understand the importance of gut health, ingredient quality, food processing, healthy fats, micronutrients, and the relationship between nutrition and overall wellness.
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we’re committed to following credible research, listening to experienced professionals, and updating our educational resources as new evidence becomes available.
We don’t expect perfection.
We believe progress matters more.
Every step toward better nutrition, thoughtful care, and lifelong learning has the potential to improve the lives of the animals we love.
Together, one meal at a time, we can become better stewards for the animals who depend on us.
Our Recommendation Philosophy
One of the principles that guides Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™ is simple:
If another company makes an outstanding product, we’ll gladly tell you about it.
Our mission has never been to convince people that everything worth buying has our name on it.
Our mission is to help animals live healthier, happier lives.
That means you’ll find products we make, products we distribute, and products created by other companies that we believe deserve your attention.
We believe the animal should always come first.
If another company has developed something that helps animals thrive, we’re happy to celebrate their work.
We also believe there is room for collaboration within the pet community.
Responsible breeders, veterinarians, trainers, nutrition professionals, manufacturers, researchers, rescue organizations, and pet families all have something valuable to contribute.
When we learn from one another, everyone benefits—especially the animals.
Our promise is to continue learning, continue asking questions, and continue sharing the products, ideas, and resources that we believe can make a meaningful difference.
Because at the end of the day, it’s never been about promoting one company. It’s always been about helping animals live their healthiest, happiest lives.
From the Founders
For more than 30 years, I’ve had the opportunity to visit and learn from hundreds of animal-related businesses, breeders, training programs, veterinary facilities, manufacturers, farms, and other organizations dedicated to the care of animals.
Those experiences have shaped the way I think about nutrition, behavior, health, breeding, training, and lifelong animal welfare.
Now, my colleague, Alli Boumeester, and I want to share that experience with you.
Instead of simply telling you about the products and companies we recommend, we want to show you what we see, introduce you to the people behind them, ask thoughtful questions, and help you better understand how these products are developed and produced.
Whenever possible, we’ll document our visits through videos, interviews, articles, and photographs—and when manufacturers are willing to host additional guests, we’ll even invite members of our community to join us on select tours.
Whether you travel with us in person or follow along online, our hope is that you’ll gain knowledge, ask better questions, and feel more confident making decisions for the animals you love.
Learning has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. Now we’d like to bring you along for the ride.
Who You’ll Travel With
The Going Behind the Bowl™ series is hosted by L. Athena “Charity” Knowles and Alli Boumeester, who share a passion for lifelong learning, animal welfare, and helping families make informed decisions about the products they choose for their animals.
Charity brings more than 30 years of experience working with animals through behavior, training, nutrition, service dogs, breeding, education, and research.
Alli is the owner of Gemstone Bulldogges of the Midwest, where she is committed to raising healthy, well-loved dogs and continuing her education as a responsible breeder. Her experience as a breeder brings valuable insight into canine nutrition, puppy development, and the importance of quality products from the very beginning of a dog’s life.
Together, we’ll take you behind the scenes to meet the people, visit the facilities, ask the questions, and explore the products that help shape the future of animal care.
Transparency in Action
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe trust is earned through transparency.
That’s why we’re launching Going Behind the Bowl™—an ongoing series where we’ll travel to manufacturers, farms, kitchens, and production facilities to learn how the foods, treats, supplements, and other products we recommend are made.
Our first facility tours are already being planned, and we’ll be sharing our experiences through videos, photographs, interviews, and educational articles so you can come along with us.
We want you to see what we see.
We’ll ask questions about ingredients, sourcing, manufacturing, quality control, food safety, sustainability, and the people behind the products.
Rather than relying only on marketing claims or product labels, we’re committed to learning directly from the companies themselves whenever possible.
Our goal isn’t to criticize or promote companies simply because we visited them.
Our goal is education.
We’ll share what we learn, explain why it matters, and encourage thoughtful conversations so families can make informed decisions for the animals they love.
As we visit more facilities across the country, this page will grow into a library of behind-the-scenes tours that gives you a closer look at the products you feed every day.
Because informed choices begin with understanding how things are made.
How We Build Trust
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe recommendations should be earned—not assumed.
That’s why we’re committed to visiting the manufacturers, farms, kitchens, and production facilities behind many of the foods, treats, supplements, and products we recommend whenever possible.
Reading a label tells part of the story.
Walking through a facility tells much more.
Our goal isn’t to “approve” or “certify” companies.
Instead, we want to become better educated so we can share what we’ve learned with the families who trust us.
Whenever possible, we’ll document our visits through articles, photographs, videos, and interviews so you can see what we experienced and make informed decisions for yourself.
Transparency Matters
Every manufacturer has strengths, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
We’ll strive to share our experiences honestly, respectfully, and fairly. A facility visit represents what we observed during our time there, and we recognize that manufacturing practices can change over time.
Our mission is to encourage learning, ask thoughtful questions, and celebrate companies that are working hard to provide quality products for animals.
Together, we can raise the standard through education, curiosity, and collaboration.
What We’ll Be Asking
One of the goals of Going Behind the Bowl™ is to ask thoughtful questions that help families better understand the products they purchase for their animals.
We don’t expect every company to have identical answers, and we recognize that different manufacturers may take different approaches based on their products, philosophies, and areas of expertise.
Instead of looking for one “right” answer, we’re looking for transparency, a willingness to educate, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Every tour is an opportunity to learn something new.
Some visits may answer every question. Others may raise new ones. That’s part of the learning process.
Our goal isn’t to judge companies—we’re here to understand them, learn from them, and help you make informed decisions for the animals you love.
Join the Journey
One of the most exciting parts of this project is that we don’t want to experience it alone.
Whenever manufacturers are willing and space allows, we hope to invite members of our community to join us on select facility tours.
Whether we’re visiting a raw food manufacturer, treat company, supplement producer, farm, or another animal-related business, we want these experiences to become educational opportunities for everyone.
If you’re interested in joining us on a future tour, let us know.
We’ll maintain a notification list and contact interested participants when tours become available. Participation will depend on the host company’s policies, scheduling, group size limits, travel requirements, and other logistical considerations.
Even if you can’t attend in person, we’ll do our best to bring the experience to you through videos, interviews, photographs, and educational articles so you can see what we saw and learn alongside us.
We believe that transparency builds trust, education creates confidence, and shared experiences help strengthen the animal-loving community.
We’d love to have you join us on the journey.
A Lifelong Mindset
One of the greatest lessons animals have taught us is that learning never truly ends.
The more we study nutrition, behavior, health, breeding, enrichment, training, genetics, and the incredible relationship between people and animals, the more we realize there is still so much to discover.
That’s exciting.
Science continues to evolve. New research is published every year. Better manufacturing methods are developed. New ingredients are explored. Long-held beliefs are tested, challenged, and sometimes changed.
We welcome that process.
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we don’t believe anyone has all the answers—not us, not any single company, and not any one profession.
Instead, we believe the best decisions come from asking thoughtful questions, listening respectfully to different perspectives, evaluating credible evidence, and remaining open to learning throughout our lives.
That’s why you’ll see us visiting facilities, interviewing experts, attending conferences, reading research, talking with breeders, trainers, veterinarians, nutrition professionals, farmers, manufacturers, and, perhaps most importantly, learning from the animals themselves.
Every conversation teaches us something.
Every question helps us grow.
Every experience makes us better stewards for the animals who trust us.
Ask questions.
Challenge assumptions.
Celebrate discoveries.
And never stop learning.
Because when we know more, we can care better.
What Guides Our Recommendations
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe every recommendation should begin with one simple question:
“Would we feel comfortable feeding this to our own animals?”
That question guides everything we do.
We understand that no product is perfect and that every family has different budgets, goals, and circumstances. Rather than searching for perfection, we look for companies that demonstrate a genuine commitment to quality, transparency, continuous improvement, and the well-being of animals.
Whenever possible, we also hope to learn directly from the people behind the products through facility tours, interviews, and conversations with company representatives.
Our recommendations are intended to educate—not replace the advice of your veterinarian or other qualified professionals.
We encourage every family to ask questions, compare information, continue learning, and choose the products that best fit the individual needs of their animals.
The more informed we all become, the better equipped we are to help our animals live healthier, happier lives.
Every thoughtful question, every label read, and every conversation is a step toward better stewardship for the animals we love.
Step One
These short articles are the heart of this page. Education always comes before shopping.
Dogs are individuals. Nutrition education begins with paying attention — to body condition, stool, coat, energy, and comfort — and choosing foods that match the dog in front of you, not a marketing category.
Whole foods are minimally processed and recognizable — muscle meats, organ meats, eggs, fresh produce, and gentle botanicals. They can be added in small, thoughtful amounts to support a familiar bowl.
Raw feeding is a wide topic, not a single formula. Safe handling, appropriate ratios, species-appropriate proteins, and slow, guided transitions matter more than any single brand or trend.
Freeze-dried foods can be a shelf-stable way to add whole-food variety, rehydrate a dry meal, or introduce new proteins slowly. They are one option among many, not a required upgrade.
Ingredient lists tell a story. Learning to recognize whole ingredients, understand sourcing language, and notice fillers or vague terms helps families choose with clarity rather than fear.
Treats add up. Choosing single-ingredient, whole-food, or gently prepared treats — and keeping portions modest — turns snack time into another small opportunity for good nutrition.
Food stewardship means caring about where food comes from, how it is made, and how it affects dogs, families, and the environment. It is a lifelong practice, not a one-time purchase.
Consistent meal times, calm mealtime environments, appropriate portions, fresh water, slow transitions, and gentle observation are quiet cornerstones of healthy feeding.

A Closing Thought
A meal is more than calories.
It’s a daily opportunity to care for another living being.
Every scoop, every ingredient, every treat, and every thoughtful decision becomes part of the story we write with the animals who share our lives.
Some families are raising a brand-new puppy. Some are helping an aging companion stay comfortable. Some are training a future therapy or service dog. Others are simply trying to give a beloved family member the healthiest, happiest life possible.
No matter where you are on that journey, we’re honored that you’re here.
At Bunny Loving Tree Hugger™, we believe that every caring decision matters.
Sometimes that means choosing a higher-quality ingredient. Sometimes it means learning something new. Sometimes it means asking a manufacturer an important question. Sometimes it means realizing there isn’t one perfect answer—but there is always another opportunity to learn.
Our hope is that this website becomes more than a place to read articles or discover products.
We hope it becomes a place where curious minds come together, where respectful conversations happen, where lifelong friendships begin, and where animals everywhere benefit because people cared enough to keep learning.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.
We look forward to learning alongside you—one bowl, one question, one discovery, and one wagging tail at a time.
